The Challenge

When ACA Group — one of the world's largest governance, risk, and compliance advisors for financial services — acquired Encore Compliance in 2024, they saw an opportunity to embed AI across their entire technology ecosystem. Encore's AI-powered call monitoring and compliance analysis had proven itself with financial services firms. Now it needed to scale from a standalone product into the intelligence engine behind ACA's full suite of compliance solutions.

This meant integrating Encore's AI capabilities into products spanning research compliance, marketing review, eComms surveillance, employee compliance, AML/KYC, and more. Each product had its own workflows, data models, and user expectations. And it all had to happen without disrupting ACA's existing clients or Encore's active customer base.

ACA needed the team that built the technology — not a handoff document.

The Solution

Productera's engineers had built Encore Compliance from concept to acquisition. After the acquisition, the same team embedded into ACA's engineering organization, bringing deep knowledge of the AI platform and expanding its reach:

  • Encore AI platform expansion — evolved the original call monitoring AI into a general-purpose compliance intelligence engine, powering automation and analytics across ACA's product suite
  • Multi-product integration — integrated Encore AI capabilities into research compliance, eComms surveillance, marketing review, and employee compliance workflows, each with domain-specific tuning
  • Cross-team engineering — worked within ACA's development processes, sprint cycles, and code review standards, functioning as internal engineers rather than external contractors
  • QA and product management — provided embedded QA specialists and product managers to maintain quality as the platform scaled across multiple compliance domains
  • Infrastructure scaling — adapted the cloud architecture to handle ACA's significantly larger client base and data volumes across all compliance verticals

The continuity mattered. Because our team had built the original platform, we could move fast on integration without the ramp-up time that would have slowed a new team. ACA got velocity and institutional knowledge from day one.

The Results

The Encore AI engine now powers capabilities across eight or more ACA products — from research compliance and expert network chaperoning to marketing review and market abuse surveillance. What started as a standalone call monitoring tool became the AI backbone of one of the industry's largest compliance platforms.

The acquisition transition happened with zero disruption. Encore's existing clients continued receiving service without interruption, while ACA's broader client base gained access to AI-powered compliance capabilities that were previously unavailable to them.

This engagement mirrors our AlphaSense partnership: a product we built gets acquired by a larger company, and our team stays on to integrate and expand it. It's the strongest validation of our work — when the acquiring company wants to keep the people who built what they just bought.
